Terms and Conditions
BACKGROUND
Our aim
Australian Red Cross Society ABN 50 169 561 394 (Red Cross) and Australian Emergency Management Institute (AEMI) (organisers) want to promote the teaching of Disaster Resilience Education in classrooms across Australia. To do that we want to assist teachers to understand the importance of the National Strategy for Disaster Resilience (NSDR) Messages.
Your job
Create a short (no longer than 60 second) advertising style video (Video) that addresses one or more of the NSDR messages.
NSDR key messages
The NSDR supports a whole-of-nation, resilience-based approach to disaster management.
It recognises that a national, coordinated and cooperative effort is needed to enhance Australia’s capacity to prepare for, withstand and recover from disasters.
The strategy encourages Australians to share responsibility for disaster resilience. This is being promoted through six key messages:
COMPETITION TERMS AND CONDITIONS
General
1 Currently enrolled Australian secondary school students are eligible to enter this competition. Employees of the organisers and their immediate families are ineligible. By entering this competition, you agree with all of these Terms and conditions.
2 You may enter an unlimited number of Videos.
3 Each Video should be no longer than 60 seconds in length, including titles and credits.
Videos that exceed this length will not be considered
4 Entries should be suitable for public viewing and must not contain obscene or offensive or culturally inappropriate content as judged by the organisers (eg. adult themes, violence, drug use, coarse language, nudity).
5 Your video should be saved for submission in MOV or WMV format on a DVD, CDRom, SD card, or USB flash drive. You should keep a back-up copy of your video as this media cannot be returned.
6 You must submit your Video together with the additional information badged as * in these Terms and Conditions by post to

to arrive no later than close of business on 30 September 2013. Videos received after that date will not be considered irrespective of when they were sent. The organisers recommend you send your entry by registered post.
7 Only one person may be the representative of the Video. Any prize or requests for publicity will be directed to this person.
8 All key pre-production, production and post-production roles must only be undertaken by secondary school students. Adults, parents, and film and television professionals may mentor and advise you, but must not perform the roles in any way or actively assist in the performance of the roles.
9 Your Videos must be accompanied by the all of the additional information set out in these conditions and include the name and contact phone number of the entrant’s current Secondary school for verification purposes.*
10 Videos must have been made between 15 July 2013 and 30 September 2013.
11 You must have your parent or guardian’s permission to enter and this must be included with your Video when you submit it.*
Images
12 If the video includes recognisable images of individuals, then a Still and Moving Image Release form must be completed by each individual. If the recognisable image is of an individual under 18 years of age the individual’s parent/guardian must complete the release form.*
Copyright
13 Any content used as part of your entry must be wholly created by you and your team (see condition 8) and must be accompanied by a creative commons licence and/or have written permission from the copyright holder agreeing for their work to be included as part of the entry.
14 This includes music. You may have bought the CD or paid for the music from an online provider, however you still need to obtain written clearance from the owner of the copyright. With music, this may require authorisation from both the record label and the performer/writer as in some cases the rights are held jointly.
15 All Videos must either:
a. be accompanied by a creative commons licence and/or contain a statement that none of the material in the film is subject to third party copyright, or
b. be submitted with the permission from the copyright owner to use copyrighted music, photos or images *
AND all music and images used MUST be credited/acknowledged in the closing credits of your film.
16 It is important that consents from copyright holders include an express acknowledgement that the work may be screened in public and may be published on the Australian Emergency Management Knowledge Hub http://www.emknowledge.gov.au/ and or AEMI Schools website http://schools.aemi.edu.au/ .
17 You must ensure that there are no corporate names or logos used in the Video, this includes anyone wearing clothing or carrying accessories that display corporate names or logos. You must remove or obscure labels/brand names from any commercial products used in your Videos as these are owned by the brand owner and may not be used by you. (School logos on uniforms are acceptable).

18 As the creator of the work you maintain the rights to your work. This means you have the right to enter your Videos in any other competition or showcase or exhibit the work in any other format at any location without the need to refer the use back to the organisers. However, by entering the competition you grant Red Cross and AEMI a non-exclusive licence to use your Video in Australia for the purpose set out in these Terms and Conditions.
Prizes and Judging Panel
19 This competition is a game of skill, and chance plays no part in determining the winner. Each Video which fully complies with these Terms and Conditions will be entered for the judges to consider. The judges decisions will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
20 Judging will take place at Australian Red Cross, 155 Pelham St, Carlton VIC 3053
21 If insufficient complying Videos are submitted, or the quality of the Videos that are compliant is not considered by the Judges to have attained an acceptable standard, the organisers reserve the right not to award some or all of the prizes
INDEMNITY
You agree to indemnify each of the organisers and its respective successors, assignees, licensees, officers, directors, members, agents and employees and hold them harmless from and against any and all claims, liability, losses, damages, costs, expenses (including legal fees) and penalties arising out of, resulting from, based upon or incurred because of a breach by you of any statement, representation or warranty made by you in submitting your Video and the additional information required under these Terms and Conditions, including any breach of the copyright requirements, these Terms and Conditions or for any claims whatsoever arising from the productions, judging and Video.
PRIVACY
Red Cross collects personal information in order to conduct this competition and will only use it for this purpose. Red Cross will not retain this information beyond the competition period and will not disclose your personal information to third parties. By entering the competition you agree to receive emails about your entry as reasonably determined to be necessary by Red Cross, for the purpose of the competition only.

- The Video can be live action, animation or animated slideshow.
- The best Videos may be published on the Australian Emergency Management Knowledge Hub and/or AEMI Schools website and will be in the running to win a prize.
- You may enter as many times as you like.

- Major and minor prize winners will be notified by email and the winner’s names will be published on the Red Cross website
- Major Prize: The Major prize will be awarded to the person the Judges consider is the creator of the best Video, as determined by the judges. The Major Prize winner will win an iPad mini WiFi 16GB Black (includes an iPad mini, protective blue case, lightning to USB cable and USB power adapter. Supports Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0) valued at up to AU$369.
- Minor Prizes: Minor prizes will be awarded to Videos that the Judges consider to be highly commended. TBA
- Total prize value is AU$TBA
- All prizes are as depicted or described in these Terms and Conditions and are not subject to change.
- The organisers accept no responsibility for any loss, damages, or injury incurred by you participating in this competition or in connection with you taking up any prize.
- Prizes are not transferable or exchangeable and cannot be taken as cash.
- Prize values are based upon the recommended retail prices at the time of printing (inclusive of GST). The organisers accept no responsibility for change in prize value between now and the ultimate prize redemption date.
- Once prizes have left Red Cross' premises, Red Cross takes no responsibility for prizes damaged, delayed or lost in transit.
21 If insufficient complying Videos are submitted, or the quality of the Videos that are compliant is not considered by the Judges to have attained an acceptable standard, the organisers reserve the right not to award some or all of the prizes

- Where I have not attached release consents and licences, I believe exhibition of this Video will not violate or infringe upon the rights of any person, film or corporation.
- I have read the entry Terms and Conditions and by submitting my Video I am giving permission for my work to feature in any way, shape or form, as part of any event by either of the organisers or other related event in its entirety or in an edited format.
